Ever suffer from breakouts during the summer?  How about streaky foundation, melting eyeliner, and mascara smudges?  The heat of summer weather combined with sticky humidity is enough to wreak havoc on an otherwise perfect beauty regime.  Here are some tips to help you survive the summer heat.  First, ditch your cream based products.  Stick with powders which let your skin breathe and soak up sweat.  Combat melting eye makeup with powders and eyeshadow base.  Avoid waterproof mascaras.  These melt and smudge when mixed with heat and the oils from your skin.  Rinse your skin more often with warm water to help prevent breakouts and moisturize with an oil free moisturizer.  Exfoliate with fruit acids and face masks to help keep pores clear and your skin breakout free.

Want to look like a hippie from the seventies except more glamorous and with daily showers?  Here's a really quick easy makeover to get that look.  You will want to use peaches, bronzes, and pinks as your primary lipstick and eyeshadow colors.  A good concealer and highlighter would be Revlon's "Beyond Natural" line.  Also, get a blush and bronzer in a rosy pink or copper tone.  Pair this with wavy flowing hair and a light flowing cotton dress and you're set! Here's a great video tutorial on how to prep your skin and do your makeup without overdoing it.  Err that makes sense right?

So I'm nearing my sixth decade in life and not only are the hairs on my scalp turning a silver gray, but my eyebrows are also starting to turn white.  Now in this economy and so close to retirement, I can't really afford to splurge on salon treatments so what's a gal to do?

Well, I'll just color my eyebrows at home!  I was scared of using chemicals like hair dyes near my eyes, but I just followed some simple tips I found online and it was over in less than half an hour.  I just applied the dye to my eyebrows and wiped it off when it was time.  Now it is a good idea to put something on your skin like vaseline or preparation H on your eyelids and eyebrow bone so you don't end up with funny blotches on your skin, but it really was easy and painless.  There was some tingling where the dye was applied, but it wasn't anything too troubling.  Mostly it just felt like getting my hair dyed.  Here's to saving some money in 2010 and turning the clock back a couple of years.
Here's a great video of how to dye your eyebrows at home and when you're done, learn how to shape and grow out your eyebrows with Renew brow if you have overplucked them.
